Jess O'Thomson (they/she) is a legal researcher, writer & journalist. They are currently a PhD researcher at the University of Leeds, School of Law. Their research explores the use of trans and disability human rights law frameworks.Jess has extensive experience researching and analysing anti-trans legislation and litigation, particularly within the UK. They are an expert on transphobia, and are working on a forthcoming book on the topic for SAGE Publications.Jess has written for several publications, particularly utilising their legal expertise, but also on issues of trans and disability rights more broadly. This has ranged from first-hand reporting on far right violence, to covering various trials and legal cases.
